Most of our small groups meet in homes every week or other week to support one another by doing life together. These groups typically have a time of prayer and discussion centered around the scripture. Groups are free to take on whatever format best fits their group; however, most groups either have a time of sermon discussion or Bible study. We also encourage our small groups to serve together. Their service may include serving in a particular area of the church or serving in our local community. Each group's service project is at their discretion.
Small Group Meetings
Local Missions Small Group
The Local Missions small group, led by Brent Baxter, follows Christ by serving those in our local community. We believe in putting the “doing” in “doing life together” as a small group. Join us as we seek to know Jesus and make Him known by serving those with physical and spiritual needs in the Carthage area, as well as anywhere else the Lord directs us. To learn more about this outreach-focused small group, please sign up via the form below or see Brent Baxter for more details.
Students Small Group
The Refuge Students small group, led by Josh Hedrick, meets Wednesdays from 6-8 pm. They spend time fellowshipping and diving into the word of God each week. The students visit for about an hour, spend time studying God's Word, and wrap up the night with more fellowship and fun! Every other week, Refuge provides dinner. Refuge Students is a fun, exciting place for 7th-12th graders to learn about God and grow in their personal walk with Jesus. If your student is interested in attending the Refuge Students, sign up below or see Josh for more information.
Refuge Women's Small Group
Our Refuge Women’s small group, led by Lauren Walker, seeks to know Jesus deeper and more intimately and understand our calling as Christian women. We provide a safe environment for women to grow in their faith, build lifelong relationships, receive support when life brings challenges, and celebrate special milestones together. In 2024 we've been studying “The Bible Recap” by Tara Leigh-Cobble. Although this study includes daily reading, we meet in person on the 2nd Sunday of each month at 4 p.m. See Lauren for more details if you'd like to fellowship and dive into the Word with us!
Connections Ministry Group
The Connections Ministry small group, led by Tami Wright, seeks to follow Christ by caring for others within Refuge Community Church. We identify the needs of our church family and work together to meet those needs. We welcome new visitors, prepare meals for those in need, support new mothers and fathers, and bring helping hands for any life change where support is needed. They meet monthly on the 4th Sunday of each month at 4 p.m. for fellowship, devotion, and planning. We invite anyone interested in serving others in our church to join us. Please sign up via the form below or see Tami for more information.
